Lynn B. Ogden is Managing Director of Essential Mastery, a boutique search and leadership development consultancy established in 2008. She has a passion for aligning talent strategy with business performance and developing authentic leaders. She brings an effective blend of strategic management consulting, global executive search, leadership assessment, and career coaching gained over twenty-five years in Europe, North America, and throughout Asia Pacific with an emphasis on emerging markets, joint ventures, and family operated companies.
In addition to her executive search practice, Lynn is a Senior Advisor and Retained Executive Search Subject Matter Expert for the International Center for Executive Options (ICEO) with LHH (Lee Hecht Harrison). From 2015 to 2018, Lynn was a bi-coastal Partner in Boyden’s New York Metro and San Francisco offices leading searches in the consumer, life sciences, and social impact sectors. Earlier, she was Vice President/Engagement Leader for Senn Delaney, a Heidrick & Struggles company (HSII), leading culture-shaping trainings and workshops.
Over two decades, Lynn moved from Senior Associate to Senior Client Partner & Regional Consumer Market Leader, Asia/Pacific for Korn Ferry International (KFY), the leading global executive search firm, where she managed over 550 search assignments between 1988 to 2008 based in Hong Kong and San Francisco. She led a 30 person cross-cultural team across Asia-Pacific.
Over the course of her pioneering career in Asia and subsequent return to the US in 2006, her clients have included respected brands including Nancy’s Yogurt/Springfield Creamery, Big Mouth, Vitaquest, Sprint Connect, Big Bus Tours, Coca-Cola, Colgate, Richemont, Fila, iReality Group, Western Union, Viacom, Turner Broadcasting, Seagram, Bristol-Myer Squibb, Avon, Blockbuster, Donna Karan, Payless Shoes, Coach, Nike, Disney/BVI, Chanel, CNBC Asia, Tiffany, DFS Group, Omnicom, American Chamber of Commerce and Lee Kum Kee as well as Legacy Health System, Pre-Cash Inc., EB Brands, Mark Ecko Enterprises, AETN International, McCann Worldgroup, Clarins, Lear Corporation, The Ford Family Foundation and the University of Oregon.
In her earlier career, Lynn worked in strategic market consultancy for Technomic Consultants Asia focused on market entry strategies across China and SE Asia. She began her career in supply chain/logistics for Sino Santa Fe, the first 50/50 US/China Transport Joint Venture between Santa Fe Transport (now EAC) and China International Engineering Consulting Corporation (CIECC) in 1985.
Lynn holds a Master in Buddhist Studies from The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, SAR, China, and a BA in East Asian Studies from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT. She is proficient in basic Mandarin and French. She has training and certification in several assessment tools including Decision Dynamics, Lominger competency-based assessments, and TILT360. She is a certified Senn-Delaney Culture Shaping Facilitator and is trained to deliver in Corporate-based Mindfulness Training (The Potential Project).
She currently serves on the Board of Self-Enhancement Inc. and Maitripa College in Portland, Oregon, and on the Alumni Board of Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. In Hong Kong, she served on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce from 1997 to 2002, the Development Board of the Chinese International School from 2003 to 2006, and as a founding Patron of the Society of Aids Concern.
A frequent traveler, Lynn splits her time between Portland, Oregon and New York. She enjoys yoga, hiking, skiing, mindfulness, and connecting people with ideas and new opportunities.
